Bridges
Helping with the construction of new bridges and retrofitting older ones has long been a staple of Thompson Metal Fab’s portfolio. One of our strengths is the ability to adapt our fabrication services to whatever the project demands, whether that means a simple or complex bridge design.
Tight Manufacturing Tolerances
We have a history of being at the top of our class when it comes to adhering to tight manufacturing tolerances — the permitted variation from a given dimension. We build quality into products, not inspect quality into them. That is why so many municipalities, project managers and contractors prefer working with Thompson Metal Fab.
Retrofits
Having a hand in retrofit projects is a key part of our business — and one we enjoy because it often means maintaining a source of a community’s pride. For example, we provided steel for the retrofitting of the historic Oregon City-West Linn Arch Bridge in 2011-12. The structure opened in 1922 but was in dire need of a new deck, joints and rails.
Similar examples come from our work on the famed Aurora Avenue Bridge in Seattle and the Hood Canal Bridge in Puget Sound. TMF is a member of the National Steel Bridge Alliance (NSBA) and the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
