FEATURED PROJECT: Parker Rig 269/270 Mast & Substructure
Mast & Substructure
Fabrication of two 1000 Kip Masts and Substructures.
Telescoping Mast measures 158ft in height when fully extended. The bottom of the mast measures 8ft x 28ft, tapering to 12ft at the center. The top of the mast measures 8ft x 12ft.
The masts have an approximate weight of 220,000 lbs each. The masts have various subcomponents: Mast Upper Section, Mast Upper Intermediate Section, Lower Mast Socket Section, Lower Mast Center Section, Lower Mast Leg Frames with Mast Shoe Assemblies, and Transportation Latches and Racking Board.
The upper intermediate & upper sections include top drive torque tubes and tiebacks to the mast, racking board and racking board suspension assemblies, and crown assembly
The Parallelogram Substructures each consist of twelve major subcomponent modules, four legs, and two 45º support structures. The substructures weigh approximately 410,000 lbs each. The drill floor measures 38ft x 36ft, the substructure base measures 38ft in width x 50ft in length and the substructure is 32ft in height when in its elevated position.
Overall mast, substructure, and assist structure measures approximately 38ft in width x 80ft in length x 190ft in heights and weighs approximately 315 tons.
Highlights
-TMF fabricated and monogrammed Masts and Substructures to API 4-F
-A number of components required low-temperature materials
-Hydraulics systems installed, including assist and main hydraulic cylinders at TMF
-Completed fabrications were fully erected, functionally operated, and ran through a range of motion tests at TMF
-Masts Maximum Rated Static Hook Load: 1,000,000 lbs on twelve lines
-After final rig-up in TMF’s yard, Masts and Substructures were delivered to various locations in the USA, Canada, and overseas for oil drilling operations
