FEATURED PROJECT: USCG Kalihi Range Towers

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Thompson Metal Fab manufactured two range towers for the US Coast Guard in Honolulu, HI. The range towers were fabricated from stainless steel and access stairs, handrail, and ladders were supplied hot dip galvanized. The Front Range Tower was supplied in one piece, and the Rear Range Tower was supplied in two pieces and assembled on-site. TMF arranged the freight shipping to Honolulu from our shop in Vancouver, WA.

The new towers are expected to provide an 80-year life cycle safeguarding the third most commercially vital shipping channel in Hawaii.

During manufacturing, the fabrication was ‘quarantined’ from other work zones within our shop to protect the project against Hexavalent Chromium. After fabrication, all structures were passivated for corrosion protection.
